Institutions accredited or preaccredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities are expected to cooperate fully during all aspects of evaluation and to adhere to all Commission policies, procedures, and decisions. They are responsible to ensure integrity in all institutional operations, relationships with their constituencies, relationships with other institutions, and accreditation activities with the Commission, including access to all aspects of institutional operations, including accurate information about institutional affairs and reports of other accrediting, licensing, state and federal agencies, and auditing agencies.
The Commission expects its accredited and preaccredited institutions to comply with requirements for participation in the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended and reserves the right to review an institution's accreditation status when U.S. Department of Education findings demonstrate significant noncompliance with HEA programs.
The Commission also expects each accredited or preaccredited institution to remain in good standing with other recognized accrediting bodies with which it has accreditation or preaccreditation status. If another recognized accrediting body or governmental agency (1) places an institution or an institution's principal program on public probationary status or (2) revokes accreditation or preaccreditation, the institution shall report that action to the Commission, which will promptly review the accreditation or candidacy status it has previously granted to the institution to determine if there is cause to alter that status.
