Jake Rivera

Vice President of Student and Academic Affairs

Great Basin College

Jake Rivera has more than 26 years of higher education expertise. He currently serves as Vice President of Student and Academic Affairs at Great Basin College, a public multi-campus two and four-year degree granting-institution that represents over 86,000 square miles across rural Nevada. He fosters relationships with local community and policy leaders as well as serving in variety of roles with organizations that promote best practices in higher education such as AACRAO, PACRAO, NASPA, NAFSA, NACADA, and AACC. He currently serves as chair of Nevada System of Higher Education Student Affairs Council, is a member of the Rural Nevada STEM Network’s Equity and Diversity Committee, and is a 2017 National College Hispanic Council Fellow. Rivera holds a masters degree from Fort Hays State University in public policy and administration, and has extensive institutional accreditation experience with accreditors such as Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Higher Learning Commission, and Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.

Mark Calvert is a Managing Director with Cascade Capital Group, LLC, a professional services firm with a broad and diverse background in accounting, public reporting, restructuring, turnarounds, forensic accounting, fraud analysis, expert witness testimony, merger and acquisition, finance and valuation. Mark has extensive experience in acting as a trustee or receiver of operating enterprises, including but not limited to companies in financial distress. Mark has more than 38 years of hands-on operating, management consulting and strategic planning experience with a wide variety of companies. Mark has over nine years of experience in all aspects of public accounting including: audit procedures and concepts, technical matters, SEC reporting and disclosure, application of new pronouncements, all aspects of tax planning, public reporting, general consulting and expert witness testimony. He has assisted clients with developing and implementing long-term strategic plans, ensuring companies fully understand the key operating metrics that increase company value, and how to communicate the value to stakeholders, stock analysis and Wall Street firms.
