V6I1: New Vice President Joins NWCCU 


NWCCU welcomes Heather Bennett, Vice President for Institutional Innovations and Compliance, effective September 1, 2023.

Heather has worked with member institutions on transformative improvement processes as part of the leadership team for the Mission Fulfillment & Sustainability Fellowship program and the Student Success Academy at NWCCU since 2020. She also supports institutional innovation through the substantive change process and ensures ongoing compliance with the US Department of Education and Council for Higher Education Accreditation regulations.

As the Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness & Strategic Development and Accreditation Liaison Officer at Everett Community College from 2010-2020, she managed the Grants and Institutional Research Offices and served as the lead for the college’s work in strategic planning and performance, its institutional accreditation reporting process, and its work to improve equitable student success as part of the Achieving the Dream network, which named Everett Community College a 2018 Leader College of Distinction.

Heather holds a BA in English from Birmingham-Southern College, an MFA in creative writing from Eastern Washington University, and a PhD (ABD) in English from the University of Kentucky.
