V5I3: Creating Capacity for Digital Learning – Free Professional Learning Opportunity Extended

Mar. 29, 2023 ⋅ Categories: Beacon, Gates Foundation, NWCCU, Reminders & Events

In August 2022, NWCCU, in partnership with the Online Learning Consortium (OLC) and Every Learner Everywhere (ELE) and funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, offered a free, self-paced professional development workshop series on developing quality digital learning.

Over 160 individuals (faculty, administrators, staff) across 30 institutions participated in the workshop series.

We are now pleased to announce that this opportunity is extended through the end of 2023!

Please read on to learn more about this professional development and ways in which your institution can become involved.

Creating Capacity for Digital Learning – FREE Professional Development Opportunity

This series of customized trainings will be specifically tailored to three key populations:

  1. Educators who might serve as mentors to faculty responsible for the design and facilitation of online courses (“Creating Capacity for Quality Digital Learning: Train the Trainer”)
  2. The faculty themselves seeking resources and support for designing, facilitating, and assessing quality online instruction within inclusive digital learning environments (“Creating Capacity for Quality Digital Learning: Faculty Focus”)
  3. Institutional leaders and administrators responsible for leading and scaling quality digital learning that equitably supports educational success (“Creating Capacity for Quality Digital Learning: Leadership Focus”)

Individuals are encouraged to register for those courses they may find beneficial. For instance, a faculty member may choose to complete the “Faculty Focus” offering first and decide later on to complete “Train the Trainer.”

Due to the self-paced nature of the course, participants may find it beneficial to complete this work in institutional cohorts, alongside colleagues.

Registration information and details are provided on NWCCU’s website. Registration will remain open through 2023.

For a snapshot of this professional development opportunity, please review this digital handout and watch this short video. Please note that the deadline of November 30, 2022 is no longer applicable as this course will remain open until the end of 2023.

Additional Benefits

Want to bring these trainings to your institution? For those individuals who complete (or have already completed!) the “Train the Trainer” workshop, OLC will provide you with the entire course content (all three trainings!) to assist in the facilitation of this information on your campuses. Trainers are welcome to use the same content or to “remix” the information based on their institution’s needs. If you completed the “Train the Trainer” course and are interested in this access, please email Jordan Kamai (jkamai@nwccu.org) for more information.
