Dialogue as a Durable Skill: Preparing Students for College, Work, and Civic Life

At a time when colleges and universities are navigating increasing polarization, heightened tensions around campus discourse, and questions about how to prepare students for life and work beyond college, the ability to engage constructively across differences has become an increasingly important student capacity.
Drawing on the Constructive Dialogue Institute’s work with colleges and universities, as well as examples from the University of Portland and Weber State University, this webinar will explore strategies for how institutions can intentionally build cultures of open inquiry, dialogue, and free expression.
Participants will leave with practical ideas for strengthening constructive dialogue across the student experience plus a deeper understanding of how these skills can support broader institutional priorities around student learning, collaboration, and preparation for the workplace and civic life.
The session will conclude with a live group discussion/Q&A 2:00 – 2:30 p.m.
